Queer Theory
Queer theory is not limited to something that is homosexual. It is about anything that makes us different. It relates to sex, sexual orientation, race, etc. We see how it relates to Middlesex because the main character Calliope or Cal is definitely different. Cal is telling his story how he was born a girl and overtime changed into a boy. This is not something you would think commonly which makes it queer. We normally associate the word queer with gay or lesbian but really what it means is out of the ordinary or unusual.
